We've had aristocracies and gilded ages before. As I remember, it never worked out too well for the kings, queens, and aristocrats.

I agree, though, that even then they were still devoted to the sciences and learning. Today, we have a pandemic of stupidity.

@Richard_Littler I love and totally agree. Maybe not extinction but Stone Age for sure and extinction is a better than 75% probability if they do nothing - and they will do nothing. Maybe there will be a silver bullet?!
