First time running with crampons, and while it was slightly slow going it was pleasant even in slightly icy conditions. This also gave me the opportunity to see lots of serene early winter scenes and listen to some great talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist! (1/8)

First was an important talk by Tom Kochan on worker organizing in the US at the Digital Futures at #Work Research Centre. This insightful talk sets the background for why #unions matter, the challenges for the current unionization trend, and why unionizers should follow the lead teachers' unions and incorporate customers into their efforts. Kim uses concrete examples to demonstrate the importance of developing systems and optimizing for overall outcomes rather than narrow task benchmarks, moving us away from the "data-centric AI" model.
