@shanew147 Interesting in the Meath extract, the spelling of what we now refer to as Tara being Tarah back then. - cool.

these are detached portions of the counties - consolidated later by the time of the 1851 census and townland Index.

I mentioned the Dublin/Kildare portion around Ballymore Eustace in a recent blog post..

@psneeze if you want to check further border changes have a look at John Speed's 1610 map of #Ireland - hint look for County Wicklow, the size of Co. Carlow (Catherlach) and how far south the Co. Dublin border is

Co. Wicklow was established in 1606, but this map missed that

@shanew147 That's amazing. I never knew Carlow once had a coastline. And poor old forgotten Wicklow, the back garden of Ireland.
