As I post to #Mastodon today, I'm astonished with gratitude & wonder at the amount of technical/social infrastructure that this network has fielded in just a few short weeks.

Even as we know much can be improved & needs to be debated, let's continue to make our appreciation clear to the people who keep the fediverse running 🌈✨📈🛠️🦾

First, I want to thank @CobaltVelvet. Time at Octodon.social felt a bit like a Becky Chambers novel in all the ways, and I'm not sure I was ever meant to understand your unique online persona, but you gave me a home on the verse when I needed it, and I'm so grateful you did.

Your many hours of dedicated work on technical systems, reliability, and moderation are not lost on me. You can keep a ship running like few can.

Next, I want to thank everyone who supported the digital migration of hundreds of thousands of people (and counting) in just a few weeks:
- creating tools to find each other
- writing how-tos
- joining mod teams
- telling us how not to do things, then listening & making changes, which is about as democratic as most things get

Next: all who created new instances. Each time you give a home to someone new, you bring the miracle of a whole new person to the relationships and conversation here

The fediverse is a connective public good— a common marvel of human connection that can also be challenging to manage as we face the wider social problems we carry with us.

That's why you all give me hope—by being here, speaking up about problems, and working through them (in-between moss photos) as we make homes across the verse.

So thank you <3

I am also grateful to the community at social.coop, who have collectively created a shared home on the fediverse.
