I think Mastadon posters need a bit more self-control. Over posting and over re-blogging seem like an attempt to dominate the conversation. 20 part posts or posts every 10 minutes mean other posters will get pushed down on people’s feeds. #GroundRules #bepolite #selforganization #donthogtheblog #selfcontrol

@kshanti However, I'm quite fine with your own post rate. Mine needs work. I agree that a frequency target sounds good.

I increase my frequency a little bit when I'm try to increase engagement with somebody who's just joined, until they get the hang of things. However, if I or anybody else does that too much, then they will just get muted. I regularly mute just the "boosts" for people that boost too much. Would like a better solution. Also want a feed histogram to help with cleanup.

@jaymcor I think your post frequency is good. Can you mute boosts without muting the original poster?
@kshanti Yes, if you click on somebody's name to go to the home page, then you have other options besides follow/unfollow. There's a "hide boosts from" option. Also, if you need to mute somebody you can choose the amount of time, from 5m to indefinite.
@kshanti My problem lately is there's so much interesting stuff, it's easy for me to spend too much time. I need some good tools to analyze, visualize, and optimize what's contributing to my feed. With other platforms I guess I'd give up the idea, but here, I guess nothing stops me from building something, so I guess it's incumbent on me to do that rather than wait to consume what others create for me.
