Literally in the middle of moving house after 20+ years. Life passes fuzzily before eyes in packing. I have found and ceremonially thrown out eight boy razors (yay). I have also found my olf student card from back when I first tried to transition. Gulp. Looking at that fresh-faced incarnation, I am now horrified by how paranoid I was back then. I think I needed a trans version of "Everyone's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" (1/2).
Or maybe if I had heard it at the time it came out. Still, I made it in the end. And since transphobes like weaponising detransition horror stories, I can absolutely affirm that transitioning was hard at the back end of the '90s, but detransitioning was horrific. Transitioning should never be about having to prove your mental toughness. Let's not go back to those days. #grr #scotpol #scotparl (2/2)
