The social pressure of the holiday season makes it hard to keep the boundaries you have for safety (#covid #rsv #influenza #germs) but it's critical to not cave. Most gatherings I decline, the pressure is crushing before, but after I usually hear "oh, so and so was at the party and has covid". Every unmasked indoor exposure with people outside your household may contribute to chains of infection. #WearAMask #N95orBetter #ProtectTheKids #ProtectEachOther
@LAlison_58 #Xmas2022 #COVID16 Last night, a handful of people in a large room, some of whom I haven't seen since before the pandemic. Tomorrow night, tons of people whom I love, and whom I've variously run into in the course of the pandemic anyway, at Practice New Year's Eve (PNYE) at a venue which shall be in effect a small room with poor ventilation which would make my CO2 meter go beep beep beep. Easy call.
@LAlison_58 it really does suck. If there is a silver lining (for me personally), pre-pandemic I was someone who always tried to make everything work, not let anyone down or challenge anyone…I was finally able to let that go when the pandemic started. I finally started doing what was right for me, which seems to be saying no to everything social as the list of cautious friends is dwindling.
@LAlison_58 Yep. Out-of-town family are planning to fly in for Christmas Day and are already telling my child that they want to see their face. We only agreed because it’s a small group and they’re testing and only here for the day—don’t push it!
