Not sure what this plant was - maybe wild yam? It showed up along the road in the front yard. But in someways, I don’t care because it’s soo cool!

I have people suggesting that these are tomatillos or ground cherries. I’m trending towards ground cherry because the fruit does not fill the blossom area and because they are so small. But because this plant grew right along our dirt/country road, I’ll leave the question open. But for those who are curious, the fruit is smaller than the pad on my little finger.

@groggu How big? Looks like a Cape Gooseberry - common in Southern Africa and we have them in Australia. No idea if they exist in USA. I can take some pictures of my plants for comparison - but it's dark here at the moment.
