Back on the bird site, I have a weekly routine of posting any work I’ve completed from the previous week in a thread that I started at the beginning of the year. I don’t know if that thread’s going to make it to New Year’s, so I figured I’d start one up here as well.

Week 45 Art Output
Last weekend I got this portrait of Nona from the Locked Tomb series painted. I love doing pieces where the subjects are feeling really happy.

Week 46 Art Output

I did the scene of Dani Moonstar last weekend, and I’m really pleased with it. The work week was busy, so I’ve only made a little progress on my current WIP with Nightcrawler; I’m still at the sketching stage. Still, with the holiday this week, I’m not anticipating a lot more progress right now. Even so, here’s what I did.

Week 47 Art Output
Two pieces this week: Nightcrawler having some fun and the portrait of Ash that I was discussing a little bit last night. I’ve really enjoyed having extra time to draw this week with the holiday, and I’m generally pleased with the results. #MastoArt #xmen #diecomic #weeklyprogress
Week 48 Art Output
Just the one piece got finished this week, but that’s pretty normal these days. Clock time was about 6 hours start to finish. I’m really pleased with the coloring process I’ve been refining, and I had fun playing around with making the vibrant background. I used a custom brush that I made a few months ago to simulate Kirby crackle (it’s far from perfect) for the sparkles in the sky. #xmen #runaways #MidnightSuns #MastoArt #weeklyprogress
Week 49 Art Output
Just a work in progress this week. I moved away from doing lots of texture in my inks this year for a couple reasons (mainly the time it takes and my lack of skill with crosshatching), but I decided I’d like to do something with a heavier emphasis on the ink layer this week, so I started working on this Black Tom Cassidy piece. It’s coming along nicely, but it’s still going to take a bit more before it’s done. #xmen #MastoArt #wip
