I have been in the house since last Sunday with COVID.
I am venturing out to LIDL.
Anyone have favorite stuff they get from there? I always get the same things.
If you’re an Aldi person I’d take that advice too.

The first thing I check not just at Lidl, but in every supermarket, is the "next to best-before date but still good" fridge.
Usually there are good deals, 30% or more discount.
Another hint: semi-hard cheese, like our Fontina¹, can be frozen without problems.
Just take it outside the freezer 24 hrs before to eat it.
I usually buy whole wheels (tens of kgs!) of cheese directly from farmers, for a very reasonable price, and keep it for many months.
I took this photo at the Cuneo¹ weekly market last August.
Where else can you find non-industrial cheese for 7,90 €/kg?
I forgot to convert: it's 3.67 $/lb.
@GustavinoBevilacqua lol. I figured that was with VAT. 3.67 is better!
Some years ago I read an article about making grilled cheese sandwiches in which the author favored Fontina. I’ve been using it ever since.
Here we have more than 400 "official" types of cheese, but every farmer makes some "unlabeled" cheese (not enough to get a label) a bit different than that of the neighbor, because cows eat grass in different places.
@EeeeWooo the curry frozen entrees that are dupes of Bombay chef and the ice cream bars coated in chocolate that are dupes of mini magnum pops
Also the escargot trays, but that's a bridge too far for some ppl's tastes 😅
