Galactic Stone#OTD in 1954, Mrs. Anne Hodges of Oak Grove Alabama was struck by a 5kg meteorite as she slept.
The #meteorite was named #Sylacauga after the nearest post office. It remains one of the only cases of a meteorite striking a human being and it is the best documented example.
Mrs. Hodges recovered, but suffered PTSD from the event and was uncomfortable with the notoriety that came with it. The meteorite (H4 chondrite) was donated to a museum in 1956.
