KellyLinkhaving an account on Twitter & an account on Mastodon feels a bit like tending to two plants -- one in very bad health & also quite possibly cursed, and the other a very small cutting in a small container. And also they are in two separate houses several miles apart.

@mccarthy i'm mourning not only the community of people that i followed on Twitter but also the the work I did in terms of the battalions that I painstakingly blocked.
yeah, i feel the same way, for a little while I was sort of missing some of the back and forth with ppl I don't like or agree with but at the same time I feel like this is a new place to curate a healthier dialog for myself. I got tired of my own behavior on twitter, such an adversarial place to be. I miss it too but I think this is healthier.

Athena Andreadis, PhDOne problem is that the ailing plant already absorbed tons of fertilizer and careful trimming, while the tiny cutting is like clover sparsely and unevenly spread around a tiny enclosure.

One is like visiting a sick friend in a once-grand house that is now scarily falling apart and the other is like babysitting a bright and charming six-year-old who lives in a neighborhood that seems kind of cool but you keep getting lost on the way there.
