having an account on Twitter & an account on Mastodon feels a bit like tending to two plants -- one in very bad health & also quite possibly cursed, and the other a very small cutting in a small container. And also they are in two separate houses several miles apart.
anyway two recommendations for today -- the delightful, funny, and v. bloody Sweetie, You Won't Believe it (streaming on Shudder) & the newest Little Scream album (all the Little Scream albums, actually)
@KellyLink
and I would add that one plant you absolutely love and want to nurture and the other is kinda like a weed and you don't mind if it dies.
@mccarthy i'm mourning not only the community of people that i followed on Twitter but also the the work I did in terms of the battalions that I painstakingly blocked.

@KellyLink

yeah, i feel the same way, for a little while I was sort of missing some of the back and forth with ppl I don't like or agree with but at the same time I feel like this is a new place to curate a healthier dialog for myself. I got tired of my own behavior on twitter, such an adversarial place to be. I miss it too but I think this is healthier.

@KellyLink @aliettedb one is called Audrey II and threatens to eat you daily, the other is a flower in a meadow where the sun is shining.

@KellyLink

One problem is that the ailing plant already absorbed tons of fertilizer and careful trimming, while the tiny cutting is like clover sparsely and unevenly spread around a tiny enclosure.

@KellyLink
Used to it with already juggling FB for the many people I keep up with there.

@KellyLink

That first plant could definitely use more sunlight, I think it's suffering from ... wait my search for punnable plant diseases got diverted cause there's one called curly top

#plants #puns #birdsite

@KellyLink I've been using this tool - https://moa.party/ - to crosspost between the two. It's been working great.
Moa: Mastodon/Twitter/Instagram Crossposter

Link your Mastodon account to Twitter and Instagram

@pjohanneson @KellyLink Unfortunately crossposting is like watering one and hoping the other gets the benefit.
@kate @KellyLink I'm using it more as a tool to wean me off of the bird site.
@KellyLink I think I like it better here. Feels like old smol twitter.
@Gwenda @KellyLink Right??? Back when timelines indicated actual chronological time, dagnabbit!
@kelleyskovron And you could randomly glimpse a little world of people who felt like people instead of people arguing!
@KellyLink and also I'm not very good at plants
@KellyLink I feel similarly. One is like visiting a sick friend in a once-grand house that is now scarily falling apart and the other is like babysitting a bright and charming six-year-old who lives in a neighborhood that seems kind of cool but you keep getting lost on the way there.

@KellyLink same. Keeping a foot in both worlds but I keep hearing the phrase "you don't cede ground in an information war" over on bird site and it does make me think.

Love this little sapling over here, though. Reminds me of early, pre toxic days on bird site.

@graham i'm liking it a great deal, too!
@KellyLink Iโ€™ve been doing the same juggling along with Post.news as yet another alternative. Weirdly all three offer differing experiences so it seem Iโ€™ve just expanded my social media scope in an attempts to replace Twitter.
@stanclarkson @KellyLink Have you criticized a billionaire on Post LoL just to see if theyโ€™ll boot you?
@KellyLink ikr but think about the exercise you're getting jogging between the two?!?!!
