As far as the #Twittermigration, I joined twitter in February 2012 when Iranian students were using it to organize and were asking people to change their location to Tehran. Authorities were stalking people via twitter, looking up users in Tehran and arresting them. I didn't have an account so I created one for that. I've not used it much since. I've used it more as a realtime news source and to communicate w/"official" accounts when power or internet goes down.
