#PecanPie in a #CastIron skillet.

My youngest died of a #brainBleed in January. He was 23. He was living with my ex and I hadn't made this pie in ages. We had a #CelebrationOfLife in May.

He would ask to put his head on my chest to listen to my heart when we was really stressed.

He bent the tip of my best knife by throwing it at me (#ADHD sometimes means giving in to impulses). Because it was a #Damascus bade, I had to take that bit off.

I remember less often.

@ducker Thank you for sharing these stories. I'll remember you both when I next have pecan pie, or maybe I'll think of skillet pecan pie when I'm overwhelmed and struggling. That would be a blessing!

@doikayt this recipe exists because I will not purchase #CornSyrup (for those who care, #Lyles is not made from corn).

This year my dough puck was made by my partner, and was a bit scant, so I'm not sure I'm sharing pictures - it's in the three-hours-in-the-oven state now.

I've been relieved of having to hold a vigil for it, so going to bed early.
