May be a challenge, butI’m looking for any movies, particularly those that aren’t likely to have been seen, about #exorcism or interaction with demons. Anything from any language is good

If the title contains the words Possession, Exorcist or Exorcism in it, I've seen it.

I like these :

The Sacrament
The Seventh Day
The Possesion of Michael King
The Cleansing Hour
The Old Ways
The Wailing
Noroi
Host
The Rite
Incantation

@grryboy JeruZalem is a really interesting found footage take on it. #horror
@dlundh That is one I haven’t watched for some reason and forgot, thanks!
@grryboy definitely add the TV show called EVIL to your list…
@grryboy I was going to suggest the old ways until I saw it was already on the list 😅
@vitani4000 Yeah, I'm pretty deep in the sub-genre as it's my favorite. 😹
@grryboy I see Il Demonio has been mentioned. I’ll toss in The Witchmaker, Brotherhood of Evil, The Devil’s Rain and The Mephisto Waltz.
@grryboy El Día del Señor (The Day of the Lord)... I wasn't a big fan but I also watch every #exorcism movie that comes my way
@michellesmelancholia Thanks! I am such a fan of the sub-genre, I will do the same. An exorcism movie is like a pizza. Even when it's bad, it's good. 😹

@michellesmelancholia Oh, have you seen the Jhorror Metamorphosis (2019) on Shudder? It is a new fascination for me, as like you, I watch every #excorcism movie I can find. 😄

Shudder has some excellent recommendations for the sub-genre right now.

@grryboy I have not watched that one, but I definitely will! Thanks for recommending!
@grryboy The Blackcoat's Daughter, The Serpent & the Rainbow, Veronica
@grryboy I think movies are covered but Here's two TV shows, 'Evil' (someone else mentioned it but it's very good) the other is a Spanish show called '30 Coins' not so well known but equally as good.
@grryboy I realize that you said nothing with “Possession” in the title, but you were also asking for European titles and I just want to make sure you’ve seen Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession (1981) bc it gets overlooked a lot.
Otherwise, probably got nothing too interesting to mention… John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness, Willard Huyck’s Messiah of Evil… obvious ones that I love and didn’t see anybody else bring up.
@Apocryphiliac I’ve not seen Messiah of Evil. Bless you, my child
@grryboy it’s great, but not too heavy on the possession stuff, but it *is* in there a bit. Vaguely Lovecraftian.
@grryboy
A Dark Song
One of my favourites.
@YayForThat I am in love with this movie. It’s depiction of Gnostic magic is as accurate as I’ve seen in a movie. It burns slowly into one the most terrifying climaxes I’ve seen.

@grryboy
I totally agree with you there. It's no wonder all the rituals seem so real when you read this trivia:

"Wrongly considered an error, director Liam Gavin chose not to depict actual parts of the ritual and asked artists to change all symbols out of superstition and respect for the process."

@YayForThat @grryboy That is interesting! I was thinking the same things as stated above though—it is about as close to genuine as anything I’ve seen. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the ending, but I liked it better the 2nd time and regardless, I thought it was an excellent film.

@Apocryphiliac @YayForThat The end is interesting and definitely contentious. She's broken the circle which she was told to do. I'm completely ignorant of the consequences of this action, though they do seem to exist and lead to the most horrific climax I can recall in recent history.

Finding the angel aligns with her need to come to terms with her son's death and her request for help in moving on. I do like it, but I agree that I'm not sure that it's the "right" ending.

@grryboy @YayForThat I guess I felt like she hadn’t shown enough development to “earn” that ending the first time I watched it, although I saw a bit more evidence the second time through. It’s kind of nitpicky regardless. It’s the difference for me of maybe rating it a 4 as compared to a 4.5 (out of 5).
@grryboy
I have two
