every democratic system in the west has its limits, but by gum we have it good in Australia when it comes to voting;

an independent electoral commission; no out of control gerrymanders;

audited management of ballot papers;

access to polling at reasonable hours, in reasonable locations, and with reasonable alternatives;

get to laugh with people representing a variety of parties, with no fear of being shot

#VictoriaVotes

@maudenificent @artywah @kcarruthers the only downside with election participation in Australia is that not all polling stations feature democracy sausage/cake/etc.

Also, love taking HTV cards of parties I don’t like without prejudice or fear, so I can confidently reverse preference ‘below the line’.

I had added the local primary school to the sausage map while I was there

Democracy Sausage

A real-time crowd-sourced map of sausage and cake availability at Australian elections. It's practically part of the Australian Constitution. Or something. #demsausage

No goodies at the hall in Hastings this morning, but I didn’t mind cos i hadn’t even had mu cup of coffee, yet.
And … confident it wouldn’t take so long to vote that i would sufffffer waiting for coffee 😉

A nun at school (1960s) told us she always took the HTV so no one could guess how she was voting - she would have loved seeing the DLP on the job today 😆
