I’ve had a lot of people ask me recently why not stay on Twitter and fight.

The reason is because Musk controls the algorithm. He could ban you tomorrow, and he could also just deprioritize every one of your tweets so no one sees them.

You can’t fight and win when the opponent has complete control over the field of conflict.

@protecttruth Also... I know I don't have any huge political stake in Twitter but nobody has an obligation to "fight" for something like a commercial social network. You wouldn't fight for McDonalds, so why for Twitter? In fact, the best thing, from a capitalist and personal well being standpoint is to "vote with your wallet (you're the wallet) and leave for greener pastures.

@WhyNotZoidberg @protecttruth If I leave Twitter, nothing happens (because I’ve posted like twice in the last 8 years and generally avoid it, but haven’t wanted to figure out to get rid of the account ).

But if people with followers leave, a number of their followers will follow (sorry for that word play) and then they won’t be afflicted by “the algorithm” and all the crap Twatted over there.

So if someone wants to fight, leaving is the only winning play.
