📚 Spiritbox is a Canadian metalcore band that formed in 2017. Lead singer Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Michael Stringer were previously playing in the band iwrestledabearonce, which was an experimental mathcore band.

🗣️ Courtney is awesome. That’s it. In all honesty her vocal abilities are quite amazing, the way she can go from cleans into screams and vice versa is amazing. The song I shared has a great example of this at the end. Some other great tracks: Holy Roller, Rule Of Nines and Secret Garden. 📚 Vilify is a 4-piece melodic hardcore band from Australia formed in 2020. They’ve released two EPs, their debut ‘Clarity’ and a double single release ‘Odyssey/Futility’.

🗣️ This band got promoted by Spaceuntravel and ended up in their Spotify playlist. At one point in the song some cleans came through and I finally realized that this was a woman screaming. I really like their sound a lot and they’re quite up-and-coming. They’re definitely leaning more towards the hardcore part of melodic hardcore 🤘.

📚 Unleash The Archers plays a fusion of traditional heavy metal with power metal and melodic death metal. The Canadian band was formed in 2007 and has a big repertoire of albums and EPs.

🗣️ Power metal normally strays away from my music taste but Brittney’s voice (in fact her entire vocal range) adds so much uniqueness to this band that it becomes quite soothing. Their songs always feel quite epic and they go all out in their music videos!

🗣️ The juxtaposition of heavy screams and the angelic choruses is just something that speaks to me. I have played this specific song so many times. While Shontay only does cleans, there’s quite a grunge feeling to it. Other songs to checkout: Unstoppable, The Quiet Calm and Undead.

📚 Make Them Suffer are a melodic hardcore band from Australia. They’ve been performing since 2013 and released multiple albums. Their modus operandi is heavy deathcore with clean angelic vocals.

🗣️ This band, specifically this song, has everything that I like. Heavy music, raw emotions that can be felt and angelic voices to bring it all together. These vocals as well as the keyboard tunes are provided by Booka Nile. However she recently left the band and in her place has come Alex Reade who fills the role neatly. Do check out the song ‘Doomswitch’ with her.

🗣️ The golden days of emo, that’s what this reminds me of. I got hooked on a collab they did with If I Die First on the song ‘bloodstainedeyes’. Connie Sgarbossa (she/her) has piercing screams and a great way to discover those is to also check out ‘Late December’ a spoken-word song that bursts out into chaos. And Connie.. #SheScreams 🤩
