Barry Loewer - Fallacies of Fine-Tuning

YouTube

@jimdonegan
What about the assumption "There are infinite universes"? - which sounds like an oxymoron. What grounds/evidence has he for making that assertion. It's just his faith.

Similarly with his other fundamental assertion - "There are infinite possibilities." How does he know that.

And incidentally, (probably) infinity over infinity is like 2/2 i.e. = one. Which DOES make sense in terns of a "uni"verse 🙂

@jimdonegan I like to think that the universe was fine tuned to support the creation of a certain type of rock on a distant planet and life, let alone human life, was an unimportant accidental consequence.

Thinking about fine tuning this way helps clarify what is behind it - self importance.

@bityz Interesting. I tend to agree. It's academically informative to go through the options informed by the various models and theories we have at the present moment. But for me the entire notion that anything is fine-tuned is misguided. Having said that, the values of the various natural constants (such as Alpha) should be explained if this is even possible.
