Yesterday, I visited the #NationalTrust #CastlefieldViaduct at dusk. No bats, but the industrial planting and soundscapes were very atmospheric on this repurposed railway viaduct at that time of day.

This is the view along the half of the #CastlefieldViaduct that the #NationalTrust hasn't (yet) adopted. The viaduct has been untouched since it closed in 1969. The soil is contaminated with lead. Some of the planting on the adopted part of the viaduct is directly into the soil, to see whether certain plants can detoxify it.
