begging you to get comfortable with witnessing the full and glorious range of human expression on here. it looks different to the stuff you see in places where content moderation is handled by a combination of a racist algorithm and the visa credit card company
when we say this place is more accepting that twitter, we mean we also try (try!) to accept people's anger and sexuality and vulgarity and vulnerability. and all being well, you can't punish people for expressing that by spamming the report button because the person receiving the reports is just some guy
people narrate their lives and deal with their hardships in different ways. one person's heartfelt journal entry is another person's fiery polemic/cathartic nude/tasteless and incomprehensible string of profanity and nonsense. if you see something on here that feels uncomfortably confrontational to you, assuming it's not actual bigotry, your second best bet is to block silently and move on, your first is to internalise that everyone has their own thing going on! works in real life too!
and i should mention the extent to which this shit does get racialised. white supremacy wants you to find some people's self-expression more confrontational and uncomfortable than others! keep an eye on that

horrowfide loves godforsaken website and pisscotheque.
@pisscotheque for me (not necessarily for others), if I find someone's self-expression confrontational and uncomfortable maybe it's not something I should avoid, maybe it's something I should get used to. Being challenged helps me to be less of a jerk.
@pisscotheque as one of those some guy who gets the reports, thank you
@extinct i pray that the tide of boring arseholes bothering your shores will soon subside quing 🙏
@pisscotheque 💯 this - do people expect it to be twitter? It's not twitter. It's not trying to be twitter. They need to chill out.
