🔥🔥🔥
The first book of Mafi's new fantasy trilogy.
I'm not really a fan of the cover, especially in reality but the chapter pages are gorgeous.
"Violence alone, we knew, would accomplish nothing. Anger without direction was only hot air, there and gone." (Mafi, 2022, p. 144).
"Would you wait for poison to ravage your body, Kamran, before taking the antidote you hold all the while in your hand?" (Mafi, 2022, p. 169).
In this case I think people shouldn't take the antidote before they were poisoned bc most antidotes are poisonous themselves.
"I have been waiting close to the crown, as my mother once did, for any news of your discovery." (Mafi, 2022, p. 263)
Is this Hazan?
"I am Hazan, Your Majesty." (Mafi, 2022, p. 265).
Good. Fun times ahead I suppose.
"Not only had his mind been upended, but Kamran had never been ordered around by anyone but the king." (Mafi, 2022, p. 308).
Not even as a soldier in the military? Hard to believe.
"Alizeh could not, as a result, imagine how Hazan was able to procure such rare items on her behalf." (Mafi, 2022, p. 387).
So, it probably isn't Hazan.
""Do you enjoy being needlessly petty?" "Yes," he said. "I do."" (Mafi, 2022, 434).
😂 love these dynamics in books.
"He had undone his hex on Miss Huda, he'd given his word he'd not hurt the young woman, and now she had proof that he'd not lied to her." (Mafi, 2022, 453).
Shouldn't she know that qua her nosta?
"Ah. Well, in that case, you may call me Cyrus." (Mafi, 2022,493).
That is so not his name, now I want to know his real name. And he easily unlocked the status of my favorite character in the series by now.
After almost six month to get through this book, I now want to read the next part. The ending is intriguing.
