This week has been a journey of discovery as I learn to use my new #Remoska. A #lowenergy way of cooking, which should largely replace our electric ovens on a daily basis. I had a smaller one in the camper for some time, but the larger Dua is more flexible for home use and able to tolerate use on the gas hob as well. Not glamorous, but very satisfying. #mynormandykitchen #CutTheWaste #SavingEnergy

@margarance news item on RTE. They want to stop water heaters at peak demand times. I can't see how they could enforce that if linky did not collect the information.

@Chriscutler They want to turn off water heaters in the afternoon (when they should be off anyway). Notice (min 1 week) will be given to affected customers and it should only affect those whose water heaters (and we are only talking about accumulateurs which are separately switched on the consumer board on an overnight setting) aren’t working properly or have been manually switched to run all day long. With a week notice, customers with a special requirement should have time to contact EDF and discuss it with them. Sorry, as someone whose water heater is just like this and is on auto, I’m not worried. There will be no cold showers! France is taking preemptive action to avoid electricity supply problems. I’m okay with that. Openly discussed, planned protection for consumers and the information is openly available. I prefer that to power cuts.

@Chriscutler Sometimes headlines are just that - Brexit taught us to look beyond. I’m not saying the technology couldn’t be misused (just look at people being automatically and without consent being switched to prepayment in the UK) but France has thought ahead on this one. I like the Linky and being able to use it to control my electricity bill - but also to make sure that where I must use electricity, I’m getting the most from it.
