@nairita A boost is like a retweet - it means that people following you will get it in their feed.
Big differences:
Everyone is looking at a feed of most recent posts, so no secret algorithm serves to amplify content.
Since there's no opaque algorithm, marking a post as a favorite or clicking a link or otherwise interacting with a post other than boosting doesn't cause more people to see it.
@farhanasultana well, good luck with that.
also, what makes you think so? I've had more interesting and useful conversations on the Fediverse the last 6ish years. . than I ever had on the Birbsite, like .,EEVERR.
@farhanasultana Hi π
It's also a unique occasion to set a new tone for #publicDiscourse. #Mastodon is not a blank slate, but with the new massive influx of people, it's also the perfect time to collectively settle on new #houseRules.
The lack of #algorithmic curation/fiddling will be both a blessing βno financial incentive to bubble-up enraging content to keep the userbase hookedβ and a curse β#discoverability will take more effort without an algorithm spoon-feeding us more-or-less-relevant contentβ.
@farhanasultana it's fantastic to see so many here.
I'm using a migration strategy of avoiding posts of new content to Twitter, but still checking there because a minority of my network has migrated.
