I'm having trouble following new accounts. A week ago I was automatically following users when I clicked on the follow button on their page. Now the text on the follow button is updating to: "withdraw follow request".
Does anyone know why this is happening?

@johnzerne people are able to 'lock' their account so they have to individually approve followers being able to follow them. I don't believe that there is anything you did or can do to effect that. The person you are trying to follow has to approve the follow before it will show you as following.

@KnightMcLeod I could be wrong but I don't think that's the case here. I'm trying to follow an author who I'm pretty sure wants followers and who I follow on other platforms and am friends on fb with.

@johnzerne I just checked your posts, saw the author in question and I was able to successfully follow them. So I don't have any further ideas at the moment. . .I'll keep thinking about it.
