Curiously, I haven't found anyone talking about or interested in #linguisticanthropology. Are there others like me hiding in their caves and waiting for #linguisticanthropologists to show up?

#languageandculture #peirce #semiotics

@semiolang absolutely yes to #semiotics and #Peirce though!
@auli Oh, that's great! I think the community of people interested in semiotics could be better connected on mastodon. Or perhaps I haven't looked in the right places :)
@semiolang you’re right - myself am much more inclined to be active here than I ever was at 🐦 , the tools for self-organising are more interesting- like @semiotics
@auli I just started following the group you posted ( @semiotics ). The seed is there, now let's hope it grows!
@semiolang does talking about the work of J. L. Austin count as talking about linguistic anthropology ?
@yang_hu I would say it does, although his work was the object of much criticism from Michael Silverstein, the "founder" of linguistic anthropology. Nevertheless, I'd say Austin's work was foundational for most if not all approaches concerned with language performance instead of competence. :)
@semiolang That’s interesting ! The founder of Linguistic anthropology takes Austin’s work as its target of criticisms..curious to read them :)
