πŸ‘‹ Hello there.

This is my first Mastodon post. Let’s see how this goes.

For folks new to me, I'm Andy, and I'm a painter of nocturnal cityscape paintings, predominantly of Sheffield, UK. [see my attached photos]

You can see more of my work over on Instagram at www.instagram.com/andycropperart

@andycropperart hi, Andy! These are really cool! Love it!

As an aside, you might want to get on Pixelfed too. It's sort of the fediverse version of Instagram, and the cool thing is people on Mastodon can follow and interact with your Pixelfed posts without ever leaving Mastodon (basically for them it shows up as if your Pixelfed is a Mastodon profile)

Hey Sarah, and thank you.

Very much appreciate the advice will check it out.

@andycropperart welcome Andy - I see a ton of great art in this server - you found the right place I think.
@idlehand - excellent, and thank you for the warm welcome.
@andycropperart this is the 'real' social media with people not users.
@andycropperart The photos of you holding the paintings actually have a power that is quite different to the paintings on their own. Great stuff.
@stagetiers Thank you very much, am glad you like πŸ‘. I'm very sure you can see this, I wanted a short hand way to give a sense of scale but also a sense that they are physical, heavy objects, countering the illusionistic window of the painted image.

@andycropperart Absolutely. Plus you become a part of the presentation. There are the three dimensions in the paintings and then you add another sort of three dimensions by holding the picture in front of you.

BTW I have just noticed that I have accidentally posted the same pic twice. I need to be more careful. There are plenty more!

@stagetiers πŸ™‚πŸ™‚ thank you again.

Your spaces are phenomenal and really quite breathtaking. I've sat in similar spaces and there's always an element of awe and surprise about them. An immediate follow from me πŸ‘

@andycropperart That looks fabulous. I get a distinct Edward Hopper vibe with your paintings. I am going to follow you on IG as well.

Excellent, glad you like and thank you Samuel πŸ™‚
