Earlier today principal research fellow Dr Attila Lazar presented our #Population model methodology at the 'World of 8 Billion' conference in #PapuaNewGuinea - the culmination of our 5 day capacity strengthening workshop in #PNG #8BillionStrong #PopDevUNFPA
@WorldPopProject is this the number where the world will stay steady at? Are there any models that predict population will eventually start going down, globally?

Hi John,
This isn't really our area of focus - but the big picture is that it's most likely the global population will continue to rise up to the end of the century - but the pace of growth is slowing. There's a nice video from our UNFPA colleague Rachel Snow here that explains this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4NdaHmyRRk.

The best places for more detailed analyses are the UN Stats Division (https://unstats.un.org/UNSDWebsite/) or IIASA (https://iiasa.ac.at/).
