Can anyone recommend a #NAS for #TimeMachine so I can do #backup of multiple #Mac computers over the network? Something not too expensive and at least 4-6TB. Thanks
@vito don’t get Seagate. The management interface is terrible.
@capybara Thanks. Do you have any brand or model you can recommend?
@vito #Synology has any number of #NAS models that are compatible with #TimeMachine. Also soon they will offer an alternative #backup option via their #ActiveBackup app that runs on any model from the “+” lineup. Would recommend looking into those one. They offer 2 bays and onwards. I have been using them for the past 15y so ask away if you have any questions (or visit my site). https://www.blackvoid.club/synology-101-set-up-apple-time-machine-backup/
Synology 101 - Set up Apple Time Machine backup

How to configure macOS backup using Time Machine on your Synology NAS? Will it work? Are there any limitations? Let's see.

@blackvoid I have heard often of this brand. Is there a model you would recommend that doesn't cost much and is compatible with TM? I would like to order right away so if you have some model to suggest you could save me some tiime consuming research :p
@vito Well that depends on the budget. Considering your background I would suggest the plus lineup. So DS220+, DS720+ (both 2bay) and go from there. DS723+ will be coming to the market in Jan as well as 223+ as new refreshed models. We are talking €300 and upwards with no drives. Those will work with (atm) up to 18TB per bay. I have a new upcoming 723 and 923 for testing and both are 4 or 2 bay versions of DS1522+ model https://www.blackvoid.club/synology-ds1522-review/.
Synology DS1522+ review

The brand NEW 5-bay NAS from Synology is here. The DS1522+. Powered by AMD Ryzen and an optional 10G network this is a real compact beast.
