I understand that search on Mastodon was intentionally architected to de-globalize and de-escalate toxicity amplification (https://midrange.tedium.co/issues/how-mastodon-search-works/), but I don't think it'll work for news.

@asteris agree, besides following the very few news sites here I'm seriously missing my fix of news, current events at twitter speed. Plus all the human rights people there, have you tried the lists? I don't have a clue how to curate a list of news sites/HR.
@JoanaMorais lists are clunky to set up and access (wish they could be accessed from the taskbar). I’ve set up a few but not really using them for now. I’ll be newsgathering on Twitter until it goes
