Suppose I want to do a #PetCamera, but I don't want to open a feed of my apartment to some third party company. How would I do that?

Right now my idea is to get the cheapest possible raspberry pi + camera module, then my webserver point to this stream if you give the right password, but if there is a better solution I am all ears. Especially if I can stay #FOSS

Second thought. Maybe get a standard security camera that supports NAS, then see if I can isolate it so they can't talk to the outside world?

@LivInTheLookingGlass @[email protected] may have some ideas as she's into pets and technology. Best solution could be a VPN back into your network at home, and a regular IP camera/DVR setup that's local to the house.
