We very rarely get junk mail and so I took a quick peek at this one that turned up today.

AustPost, you may have heard if them, they’re the ones that sometimes deliver mail and parcels, are selling guitars.

Bit of a logical leap there, but there you have it.

@dadegroot I imagine they sound similar to the $15 ukes from jb HiFi.
@Funkpirata I'd guess so. Definitely won't have the tonal qualities of my Maton acoustic.

@dadegroot Finnish post office fantasized about getting into lawn moving business at some point. 🀷

Post offices worldwide seem hellbent on doing everything except actual mail delivery...

@nikodemus It's very weird.

Esp. with the rise of parcel post. Sure, letters have gone by the wayside, but parcel deliveries are way up.

@dadegroot Yeah. They also don't seem to think there's any way they could more money by improving service.

I mean, I don't know how much holding my parcel for an extra day costs, but I would be happy to pay, uh, 5 EUR a month for guarantee to be charged 20 EUR per day for every extra day they had to hold my parcel instead of sending it back.

I assume I'm not the only one, and that that would totes make money for them.

@nikodemus Frankly I'd just like a return to actually delivering in a timely manner. We used to have two days anywhere in the state or between capital cities, now, it might be up to a week.
@dadegroot Same here. Mail is also now delivered only 4 days a week instead of every day.
@nikodemus Hmmm... clearly mail carriers the world over are communicating their strategies.
@nikodemus @dadegroot The service I'd love to pay for (around the same price) is being able to have all of my parcels and post delivered to my home by the same handful of people who know the area and get enough time for the delivery to actually have the time to ring the bell, wait for me to walk rather than run to the door, greet them and retrieve the package.

It would be fine if this added a day or so of delay to parcels that have been sent via some other service.
