Got the urge to give #Pixelfed another shot, and against my better judgement I decided to spin up my own instance: https://twincities.photo/firewally

Single-user for now, though I'm open to running a small instance for friends if/when I get the hang of the admin tools.

If you're new here, Pixelfed is a photo sharing app that's roughly "like Mastodon, but aimed at replacing Instagram rather than Twitter"

The cool thing is that you can follow a Pixelfed account from a Mastodon account, and vice versa (this works via the ActivityPub protocol). The project is still under development, but I'm optimistic about its potential

Heads up, it looks like my image descriptions aren't coming through from the Pixelfed iOS app (which is in beta, so I'll file that bug with the developer), so if that's important to you, might want to wait before following

@firewally Does it allow for CW/sensitive images? If so, is it an all-or-nothing thing or can be used for individual pics/posts?

Thanks in advance for answering so I don't have to look it up myself. 😂

@stelepami Yes, you can mark images as sensitive and add spoiler labels similar to Mastodon, though the wording is a little different in the PIxelfed app. I haven't tried to see whether those get federated correctly over here, that'll be a good test for today
