This is Nala. People often think she looks intimidating, but she’s so friendly she once tried to warmly welcome a burglar into my house. Major guard dog fail! Thankfully another dog I had at the time (who since passed away at age 15) had a different opinion & sent the would-be burglar away as fast as her legs would carry her.

Edit: I've added pix of the hero dog in a reply to this toot

For anyone wondering, this is Hewitt (RIP), our little hero who actually scared off the burglar despite Nala’s efforts to the contrary. He was an excellent protector & one of the most intelligent dogs I’ve ever met.
@hyldaco Nala knows that in the long run, 💕 conquers 😡 . In the short run, you might get some of your stuff took. She is a good grrrl!
@amyfou She is! She’s very sweet :) Thankfully my other dog prevented the burglar from actually entering (she only managed to open the door) & protected all of us. Nala just isn’t cut out to be a guard dog; her lot in life is to spread love & copious amounts of shed fur wherever she goes.
@hyldaco Awww that is a very important lot in life. I hope you will give her an extra snuggle for me 💕
@hyldaco @amyfou Heh our springer once hid under the bed while burglars went through the house (and so he should have), and our Labrador once excitedly brought toys for someone who wandered into our house by accident (it was a medical episode, but as far as he was concerned it COULD have been a burglar).
@hyldaco I once had a Lab/GSD mix that was sweet as pie, i.e more likely to lick you than bite you. But we taught him to growl when we said "fresh meat" and I can't tell you how handy that came in sometimes. 🐶 😁
