Cheese anthropology is just one of my hobbies and just for my own pleasure although nowadays you can study it at Uni-oh to be younger!!
It is looking at the social and cultural side of cheese both present day and historically. The effects of geography, climate, wars, religion etc on cheese making in different regions.
Basically I am a ‘curd nerd’!!

@ClaireLewis looks so great

Send some of that cheese my way!

@ClaireLewis wow, that's really fascinating. Thank you for explaining.
@ClaireLewis Following for hopefully lots of gratuitous pics of cheese 🧀 😋
@SarahJenkins Definitely will be lots of drool-worthy pics of cheese!
@ClaireLewis definitely a great follow then 😀
@ClaireLewis I'd have had no idea that cheese anthropology was a thing, but it sounds fascinating. Welcome over to Mastodon!
@pholloway Thank you Paul-everyone has been so kind!
@ClaireLewis very interesting - I’m a big fan of cheese. Few days go by without me eating one variety or other of cheese - there are 4 different cheeses in my fridge as I type. Oh… the Emmental is getting a bit low…🙁. More seriously, the history / geography / religion of cheese sounds fascinating! I’m sure the differences in production (& how they arose) are equally interesting.
@Djofull Hi Rick-if people want then I am only too happy to do some cheesy posts...it will give my family and friends a break from it!😂
@ClaireLewis curd nerd is the best term!!
@goldiechan @ClaireLewis
Yes you are!
And you should be proud of being a curd-nerd!
But...
A *real* curd-nerd must have an extensive knowledge of French cheeses.
Do you know your Bleu d'Auvergne from your Fourme d'Ambert?
Your Comté from your Gruyère?
@philwaring @goldiechan Yep-I have passed cheese exams Level 1 & Level 2 with The Academy of Cheese. Just awaiting starting my Level 3 to become a Fellow of The Academy of Cheese. Courses cover cheeses worldwide and is an internationally recognised qualification-highly recommend it!
@ClaireLewis @philwaring woah the ACADEMY of cheese? are these in person classes or remote?

@goldiechan @philwaring The Academy of Cheese https://academyofcheese.org/ offers courses which have worldwide accreditation. The courses are online or classroom based, in various countries/languages. Not just for professionals within the cheese industry but also for people who simply love to eat & are very interested in cheese.
