No time to explain just get in
@prehensile absolutely. No problem. I assume it has single stage to orbit and FTL capabilities, because it's got the vibe
@fetch @prehensile How's it on the Kessel Run?
@nzlemming Does it in 11 parsecs.
@fetch @prehensile Would it have a railgun hidden somewhere too?
@prehensile I would totally play a vrchat world that looks like this
@prehensile I work for a travel agency that works in train trips so I am salivating. Also just recently got to check out the Rocky Mountaineer for a work trip!
@kirkmanbrandon oh wow that’s awesome!
@prehensile The views blew my mind! We did the Moab to Denver Rocky Mountaineer and still thinking about the trip

@kirkmanbrandon amazingg

A lot less dramatic but I took the empire builder up to wisconsin dells and back recently and there was some great fall color

@prehensile Love the Empire Builder! The Amtrak lines in general have some amazing treks you can go down and I love the space. A few of my friends and me will take the Amtrak for trips and play a ton of board and card games in lounge area
@kirkmanbrandon oh you know I brought cribbage
@kirkmanbrandon @prehensile this is now something I need to do. I’ve taken the Amtrak between Seattle Portland a couple times, but would love to do more. Thanks for seeding that idea in my brain.
@unspun @prehensile The Empire builder line itself takes a really nice tour through the northern parts of the US. Paying the money for an overnight for a Roomette or Bedroom is completely worth it as well if you're planning a nice trip
@kirkmanbrandon @prehensile I’ve wanted to take the Coastal Starlight (?) train down the coast, but now I am more intrigued by the Empire Builder. Probably because I’ve driven up and down the coast much more than I have across the top o’ the country. Thanks for the info! I didn’t know it came to Seattle.
@kirkmanbrandon @prehensile do you know of anything comparable on the west coast? These private cars look amazing
@jaskot @prehensile Amtrak has a ton of west coast options and is worth looking into. Rocky Montaineer is more limited since they only have one train line in America (Moab to Denver/Denver to Moab). And Canada is only Vancouver to Banff and Vancouver to Jasper for Rocky Mountaineer but they’re all really beautiful trips
@prehensile I know this is real, but it also has AI generated image vibes.
@prehensile not protesting. I'll have to dress the part, but I guess that'll be taken care of by the complementary robot valet service?
@prehensile I thought I had seen all the streamliners but never saw this one before. Wow!
@prehensile i have no questions and am aboard
@prehensile oh neat. the train that takes you to heaven
@prehensile This car is very likely available to rent. Get a bunch of friends for a multi-day cross country private train party? Really doesn’t sound so bad.
@prehensile we’re going to the Capitol

@prehensile Railway travel in the US has come a long way since then! :-(

Skytop Lounge - Wikipedia

@prehensile I dont need an explanation, I'm getting on faster than you can say "Choo Choo B*tches!"

@prehensile

Hiawatha! Time to reread the book.

@prehensile Every major city should have this.

@prehensile did you see the DownieLive video on this? Incredible train <3

48hrs on a PRIVATE TRAIN in America!

YouTube
@eightbithavok @prehensile I did not know private rail cars were a thing
@jaskot yeah apparently they were a pretty big thing near the start of the jet age, before average folks could afford to fly.
@prehensile stealing this design for passenger airships
@prehensile Growing up in Milwaukee in the 50's I used to see the Hiawathas almost everyday. I always wanted to ride one of these lounge observation cars but never got the chance. Nice to see it preserved.
@yeswap @prehensile where can a person find such a train? (I’m in Los Angeles)
@prehensile you don’t need to ask twice. 🚄
@prehensile I'm not sure I need a reason. That's a visual delight.
@prehensile Wow that’s awesome
@prehensile it’s giving train from district 12 to the capitol
@KoalaTPunz @prehensile thank god I was getting worried about Morty
@jaskot @prehensile aw..gosh...jeeze Rick... You don't have to worry about me...
@prehensile reminds me of Snowpiercer
@prehensile I want to. Why can't we have trains like that?
@prehensile This is f*cking awesome!!!
@prehensile getting on that without a second thought, legit coolest picture of a train I've seen
