Everything ever observed - all normal matter - stars, planets, me & you, the very screen you’re looking at - makes up <5% of the universe.

The other 95% is a combination of “dark matter” & “dark energy.” Think of it as a big question mark.

That means we still have so much to discover ✨

@Sheril you can exchange 'universe' with 'ocean' and it's still true
@funnzl I started as a marine biologist so let’s talk oceans here
@Sheril oh dear :'D
Please don't destroy me :'D
I have no clue about the ocean except for the fact we know that we don't know anything really. It was just meant as a fun fact! :'D
@Sheril and all off that is less than one percent of space right? The rest is just nothing. Instead of “there’s so much we don’t know” I say “there’s so much that doesn’t matter” so let’s just live our lives.

@Sheril that means that physics and cosmology models need a serious improvement.

Dark matter/energy is today Ether.

@Sheril do you ever think it’s hiding from us until we smarten up?
@Sheril @danielwhiteson And that's just "as we know it". I suppose, outside that are still things that "we have no idea we have no idea" *. #UnknownUnknowns

@pesasa @Sheril @danielwhiteson

It's hard to test for things that we don't know about. - Or explain them. But it's the quest for knowledge that makes life an interesting mystery.
