Karl Schwartz, Artist advocate@ubiquity75 the platform looks very good to me. The hard part is getting started so that you can join discussions and share perspectives with large enough groups of people sharing your interests.
Maybe having different single-click get-started settings would help - such as most-twitter-like-look& feel. ?
