@benjaminhollon here's mine.

@thelinuxcast Ooh, I like the keycaps! Where'd you get them?

Also, that's a very novel mouse; what's going on there?

@benjaminhollon The keycaps came from kbdfans, and the trackball is a Elecom Huge. It is awesome if you like trackballs.
@thelinuxcast Interesting, not sure I've seen them like that before. I've never really used trackballs before.
@benjaminhollon I love it. It would be hard to go back to a regular mouse now.
@thelinuxcast That's my issue with trying rarer keyboard layouts or mice or whatever; I like to have the ability to go back if I need to. But then, the quality of life improvements... I'm just not sure where to fall on things like that.
@thelinuxcast @benjaminhollon Looksโ€ฆ Emmโ€ฆ Well loved ๐Ÿ˜…
@daniel @benjaminhollon Yup, my desk is dirty and old. Also that camera picks up everything.

@benjaminhollon
I've used an IBM Model M for 20+ years.
Then I've moved to a Filco Majestouch 2 TKL because M had some malfunctioning.

I've used a nice (but, for me, uncomfortable) Royal Kludge RK61.

https://write.as/marco-bresciani/emperor-reiwa-vs

And thought about a fully custom thing.

Now I'm on a GMMK 1 TKL with Gateron Pro 2 blue switches and custom Dolch PBT side-printed switches, Italian+German, to cover the ISO Italian 142 layout.

Queen Elizabeth II vs. Emperor Reiwa

This is neither a post about history nor about war. It's a post about keyboards. Mechanical keyboards. Queen Elizabeth II is how I cal...

@benjaminhollon howโ€™s this for entry into #MechBoardCult ?
@technicalissues Very nice, I like it a lot! What's the keyboard and keycap set? That looks really nice!
Thanks @benjaminhollon Itโ€™s an #Epomaker GK96XS with Godsend keycaps from #YMDK. The caps are described as โ€œOEM Profile Thick PBT.โ€ I have a few sets from YMDK and like them all.
@technicalissues Really fun! What size is it? I've currently got a TKL, but I'm considering looking for a 60% with QMK firmware.

@benjaminhollon itโ€™s a 96% and not QMK ๐Ÿ˜ž Iโ€™m actually looking at getting a Keychron thatโ€™s TKL. I should also mention I like the Halo Clear switches in my keyboards.

https://a.co/2744huX

@technicalissues How are those switches? I've heard good things about them. I use Cherry MX Clears.
@benjaminhollon I started with the Cherry Clears in a CODE keyboard. These are very similar but have clear housings so they work well with RGB.
@benjaminhollon I have a 68% from #Epomaker too, but couldnโ€™t deal with having to relocate either ESC or the ` as I use both all the time
@technicalissues Well, I've just moved <Esc> to replace <CapsLock> in my case; I'm loving having an easier access location. I expect due to that I wouldn't have too much trouble with that particular issue.
@benjaminhollon does this not mess you up when using laptops or other computers besides your primary setup?
@benjaminhollon I support this one over Casio ! ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿจ๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿซ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ˜œ
@benjaminhollon I had a Logitech g11 or so? It was mechanical... Now dell thinjpad

@robookwus Oh, Raspberry pi 400s; I've heard of those! How was it?

Not sure I'd ever get one myself, but it's a really fun idea for educational purposes.

@benjaminhollon standard response lol

@robookwus Yeah, the sad thing about those is that it inspires people to be tech nerds, which is kind of the type of people who'd want a custom mechanical keyboard instead. :)

I have a Pi 3B, which is nice because it's very versatile. I'd like to get a Pi 4, but they're so expensive right now...

@benjaminhollon 3B enough unless I wanna do real stuff
@robookwus The 3B is pretty good. The reason I'd like a 4 is to have something a little higher powered to potentially use as a machine for focused work, probably on writing. My writing often ends up involving tools I code myself, so I'd like to be able to do some dev work on it too.
