Today's a holiday, #HeroesDay.

Started out early for a local bike tour, #hisTOURy. While waiting for fellow bikers/history buffs, I counted ~25 cyclists in a 15-minute period, for this intersection.

Andres Bonifacio, in a communique to Katipunan chapters, referred to this place as "Bundok ng Kalayaan" announcing a simultaneous attack of Manila (today's Intramuros) on 29th August, 1896.

At that time, the hill was referred to as Purok Balakbak, a settlement in the village of Hagdang Batรณ.

Information is scarce, too. Many locals are unaware of the cultural gems admist them.

Or folklore, gets mixed up with history. So, there's joy in finding like-minded folks who are keen to learn from the past, and find value in what's left with us today.

Support your local museums! Do you know that there are three museums in San Juan?
