, it is true that many go by the name barelvi and do odd acts.
Barelvi takes its name from the Imam Ahmed Rida Khan of Barreliey who is free from those ignorant 'followers'. Similar people exist in other psuedo-sufi groups in north africa.
As for the final point, I agree. The namesake of 'islamic republic' is ridiculous. Same goes for any islamic republic, including iran. A republic isn't islamic.
