A very interesting perspective on the #blockchain , cryptocurrency and NFTs:

It seems that #Ethereum and #Bitcoin blockchains are the real problem. It seems maybe not all cryptocurrency has to be so terribly bad for the environment.

That doesn't mean that a lot of cryptocurrency and NFT business is a scam of course. But at least it wouldn't be a scam killing the planet. Just the people who get sweeped in the hype.

@unfa
Bitcoin is sustainable but its not a Layer 2 currency.

Bitcoin is a Layer 1 monetary asset, and a person should only need to access it once every few years, other blockchains (Monero?) are better for Layer 2. The trick is in finding the best Layer 2.

Those #scamTokens are for #moneyLaundering and destroying civilised world, yes. They operate on the centalised #etheriumScam, which no human actually cares about, *wink.

@unfa before the energy problem is fully solved, NFTs should not be used, but there are other problems besides that. For example how some people sell other artists' art as nft without their knowledge.
@unfa It was hard to watch people complain about that, while they were using equally destructive services (Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon) to do it and not seeing the connection. I think that’s one of the advantages of using Federated services, since you can effectively host and use them while not draining entire lakes to inefficiently cool your data centers (looking at you, Google). Crypto/blockchain stuff is obviously another matter. But, I just think NFTs are dumb to begin with, so I just don’t support them.
@unfa The insights of blockchain technology trascend bare implementation, which I hope mainstream cryptos develop further.
A critique of NFT's should be made contrasting the "regular" art market itself, which is somewhat of a scam I think. Have a happy new year, and thanks for your amazing content!
