Ummm.... two things right off the top of my head.

1) Tesla's autopilot software isn't very good.

2) A screen where it's face would be? That's the stuff of nightmares.

Elon Musk unveils 'Tesla bot,' a humanoid robot that would be made from Tesla's self-driving AI

"There will be profound applications for the economy," Musk said about the bot's future capabilities. "In the future, physical work will be a choice."

@mike "at a mechanical level, at a physical level, that you can run away from it and most likely overpower it"
#mostlikely
@shom @mike yeah, I was going to say "Are they going to use components that can physically be overpowered, or are they expecting the software to be flawless?"
@mike
I still prefer the good old little Honda's ASIMO.
@mike This guy is mostly all talk and no action. After all he isn't the genius behind any product. He is only the Salesman for these products. Other real engineers actually design and make them. Ditto for his cars and rockets. He's just the PR face. Go watch/read a documentary about Tesla motors for more details.

@danielfgom agreed.

On the plus side, he did invest a lot of (other peoples') money to enable others to build what he claims are his products. So let's call him a visionary financier.

But other than that he's just a ruthless egocentric billionaire who doesn't give a fsck about anyone or anything else.
@mike

@danielfgom You're not wrong, but the same could be said for most people in his position.

@mike wow, I haven't seen this! ... but I don't feel excited at all?

"eliminates dangerous, repetitive, boring tasks"

Like taking out the trash? Rescuing people out of burning buildings? Administering the 10th round of booster shots?

@franz @mike aren't those robot arms already doing the same thing, but for a very specific job?
@RyuKurisu @mike well, they don't "navigate through the world without being explicitly told what to do" πŸ€ͺ Which is probably a good thing ...
@mike but...but..but...Elon!
