I'm probably being paranoid, but I'm fairly sure Mozilla intends to leave browser development

Or at least spin off Firefox

Mitchell Baker's decisions as CEO don't give me any hope for FF. They weren't short of funding when they fired 250 (1/4 of all) in the middle of a pandemic

@cypnk
Unfortunately, Firefox is really just awful. Its far too dependent on Cloudflare, Google and Amazon, and phones home to them too much, making it a surveillance system.

The only thing we will miss about seeing #Mozilla go is knowing where many of the corrupted developers are.

Sad but true.

Many of the alternative browsers have intentionally ugly icons, to repel the casual user. The first thing that needs to be done is weirdly simple – improve those icons.

@dsfgs I don't see even simple improvements being made any time soon, unfortunately. Their priorities are just not on it

Or I should say, the CEO's priorities aren't on it

@cypnk
CEOs are about extracting value. They are leeches. When something good grows in popularity it is generally attacked by the system and the owner is forced (via #extortion or in the formative stages) to put in a trained #hypnotist, linguist and all around nice guy (aka the #CEO) that will do the #banks bidding while extracting as much #humanEnergy as possible from all participants.

The #CEOs are almost never the original owner for a reason.
