Normally I'd have boosted it, but I feel the need to quote part of the linked article:

"The cost to Afghan civilians has been appalling, put at between 50,000 and 100,000 deaths over the two decades, all in retaliation for β€œhosting” the 9/11 attackers. Is that what we call western values?"

The number of deaths in Iraq are even more horrible.
First the economic war (sanctions), then the war itself and the aftermath of it.
Cost to Iraqi: 500k-1m+? 😒

#Afghanistan once again proves to be the graveyard of empires. Fading empires have been fighting a totally counterproductive war there for 20 years. Even worse, the war cost 50% of Afghanistan's GDP. Money well spent? #NATO could've just made direct payments to Afghanis. Who would still support extremist militias if NATO had given the entire country a 50% raise for the 20 years. The stupidity of that war is unfathomable, it shows how broken the status quo politics are https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/apr/16/20-years-western-intervention-afghanistan-terror

And that's only talking about the deaths.
Doctors in Iraq had to invent new medical terms for the things they encountered because, among other horrible things, the US mil used white phosphorus and uranium laden bullets.
And let's not forget that Iraq had an excellent (free) healthcare system, good education, etc.
Now it's set back decades. 😒

Or the 'humanitarian intervention' in Libya.

And now ofc #Yemen, because MBS needs training for the coming war with #Iran. πŸ–•
