Protože jsou omezené možnosti naší mysli, jazyka i smyslů, je omezené i naše poznání okolního světa. Proto je skutečný svět stejný jako Augustinův Bůh. Nepoznaný a nepoznatelný. V okamžiku kdy jeho část nějakým způsobem „poznáme“, ji pouze vyjmeme ze skutečnosti.
