labor unions are actually the conservative approach to labor relations, they leverage market participants organizing for fair working conditions. or, in other words, they are a "free market solution."
thing is, republicans aren't actually conservative, they just like to say they are. it's called "lying." in reality, they are corporatists, just like the democrats. this is what i mean, when i say both parties suck.
oh yes, and cooperatives are also a conservative concept -- they transition the market economy from one of top-down governance to one of bottom-up governance. republicans dislike coops because they benefit from the current market economy. democrats play lip service to coops, but don't actually back them, because again, they don't actually want them.
