I'm finding Masquerada: Songs and Shadows to be massively underrated so far.

It's billed as a tactical rpg, but it plays almost like a visual novel with occasional combat. The plot is very linear so far - I'm several chapters into the first act - but also very engaging.

The setting is original pseudoitalian fantasy, where there are mystical masks that grant elemental abilities.

The thing that I find phenomenally refreshing is that there is absolutely. no. inventory.

I don't have to scour every environment for pickups, loot every enemy, manage my carry weight, organize my inventory, grind for better equipment, ad nauseam - I can just play the game.

The combat is fast and realtime, but not too challenging so far, and seems mainly to be a motivation for building out the various characters' skill trees.

Not sure whether I love or hate that all modern games have a big "LOOK OUT, THE END OF THE GAME IS COMING" warning
