This last day of the month of #BlackHistory, learn about how slow white people are to wake up to reality:

On the 26th of February 2020, the US House finally passed a bill making lynching a federal crime.

Zero credibility is what the US has with nations comprised of PoC. Why? The persistent delusion of "American Exceptionalism" being falsely reinforced by politicians trying to appeal to others of their kind: white landowning men in the central region of the US.

Mark Charles: "... it took until 2020 for this nation to decide lynching was against the law. That [any] person lynching a black person was against the law."

He makes a great point contrary to what Buttigieg arguing for perpetuating the false ideals of exceptionalism.

There's not so much in the annals of the US Constitution that needs "restored", as Buttigieg claims. Rather, people need to start acknowledging what really happened:

In 2020, "serving your country" means staying open and eschewing anything that racist old dudes thought was a good idea.

"Throughout our history the United States of America has used the separation of families as a means of controlling people of color. Whether during Indian removal, the slave trade, Western Expansion, Internment Camps, Indian boarding schools or in immigration detention centers today - the U.S. government has been stealing babies from their mother’s breasts for nearly 250 years.

But it's not who we have to be.

The first step towards change is acknowledging we have a problem. So while this may be who we are, it is not who we have to continue to be. But that is a decision we have to make together, both intentionally and collectively. Our systemic injustice, racism, and implicit bias of white supremacy are not partisan problems. It's a collective problem."
