I was gifted a stick blender this past holiday season, and that tool makes this recipe much easier.
The original recipe I start from is the No-mato Sauce from Sarah Wilson's I QUIT SUGAR COOKBOOK.
Every time I make my sauce, I look at a copy of that recipe, but at some point in the making, I just go off recipe in some way, and I'm sort of riffing on a few flavor theories to see which idea I like best.
